You can see your website while you are logged in, but visitors get a status page instead? The dashboard tells you why: the website tile on Home shows either "Public" or the reason why the website is not public. This article lists all messages and what to do about them.
"Not publicly accessible (E-Mail Confirmation required)"
The e-mail address of your account has not been confirmed yet. Visitors see "The website that you want to request is not published yet."
Click the link in the e-mail "ACTION REQUIRED: hPage - Your registration". If you cannot find it, use the button Resend confirmation e-mail on the website tile or under Account Options → Account. Details: Confirm your e-mail address.
"Not publicly accessible (Mobile Confirmation required)"
Your free account still has to confirm a mobile number by text message. Visitors see the same message "The website that you want to request is not published yet.", while you can open the website normally as long as you are logged in.
Enter your mobile number under Account Options → Account, section Mobile Number, and confirm it with the code we send you. Ordering and paying a Premium package removes this requirement. Details: Mobile number verification.
"Not publicly accessible (Deactivated by Admin)"
"Admin" here means you, the owner of the website: the website was deactivated in its settings. Visitors see the page "Website deactivated" with the text "The website that you want to request has been (temporarily) deactivated by the website owner." or the reason you entered.
To reactivate it, open Settings → General, section Website access, remove the tick at Deactivate my website and save. The same setting is useful the other way round: while you rebuild your website you can hide it from visitors and enter a Reason to show for deactivation.
"Website inactive"
Visitors see this page when nobody has logged in to the account for a long time. Simply log in at admin.hpage.com with the account that owns the website; this reactivates the website automatically. If you have forgotten your password, use Password forgotten.
"Website locked"
The website was locked by hPage, usually because of an invoice that has been unpaid for a long time or because of a violation of the terms. The login may show "This account is locked. You may contact the support for further information." What to do is explained in Why is my website blocked?.
"Website deactivated because of suspicious traffic / DDoS"
Our systems noticed unusual traffic to your website and switched it off to protect it and the other websites. Contact our support; we will check the situation with you and reactivate the website.
The status is "Public", but the website still does not open
- A free subdomain cannot be opened with
www.in front: useexample.hpage.com, notwww.example.hpage.com. - A newly registered or transferred domain can take a while until it works everywhere; see How long until my domain works?.
- Reload the page without the cache, try another browser or device and check status.hpage.com. More in Tips for general problems.
- If visitors report a password prompt, check whether the page is protected with the Password Protection addon or part of the Member Area.
