If the admin area does not behave as expected, a page does not save or your website looks wrong, the cause is often on the device you are using. Go through this checklist first; it solves most problems in a few minutes.
Check the basics
- Reload without the cache. Press Ctrl+F5 (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) to force the browser to load the page freshly. Clearing the browser cache helps in the same way.
- Try a private window or another browser. If everything works there, a setting, an extension or cached data in your usual browser is the cause.
- Disable browser extensions, especially ad blockers and script blockers. They have far-reaching rights and sometimes block parts of the admin or of your website. Add an exception for admin.hpage.com and your website address, or switch the extension off while you work.
- Use an up-to-date browser and operating system. Outdated browsers are not supported. Internet Explorer is not supported at all; use Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Safari in the latest version.
- Check virus scanner and firewall. Security software can block connections or scripts. Lower its level or disable it briefly to see whether the problem disappears.
- Use a desktop browser for the content editor. The editor for page content is not available on mobile devices; edit pages on a desktop or laptop computer.
- Log out and in again. This refreshes your session. The same applies after changing the password or the e-mail address.
- Try another device if you have one. A problem that only occurs on one device is caused by that device.
Check whether hPage is affected
- Open status.hpage.com. Known disruptions and maintenance work are announced there; you can also reach it in the admin under the help menu (question mark) → Server Status.
- Look at Settings → Audit Log for the website and Account Options → Account Log for the account. If something on your website changed without you doing it, you can see there who made the change and when.
- A website that visitors cannot open usually shows a status message. The article Website not publicly accessible explains them.
Contact the support
If you have gone through the checklist and the problem persists, we are happy to help. When logged in, use the help menu (question mark) → Contact; it opens the support form and sends your account details along automatically. Otherwise write to support@hpage.com. Please include:
- A detailed description. Not "my website is broken", but for example: "Since yesterday morning the gallery on the page 'Photos' is no longer shown; last week it worked. I see the problem in Chrome and Firefox."
- Your website address (for example
example.hpage.com). - What you have already tried from the checklist above.
- Your browser and its version and, if known, your operating system.
- A screenshot of the problem or of the error message, if possible.
Further details are on our contact page.
