Image upload does not work

Find out why an image is rejected or the upload gets stuck, and fix it: file type, size, storage space, folder, browser.

When an image does not arrive on your website, the reason is almost always one of a few: the file, your storage space or the browser. Go through the points below from top to bottom.

Check the target folder

An image can only be stored in Images or one of its subfolders. If the upload page shows another main folder as Target Folder, open the upload page from an image folder or use Automatic folder select.

Try the two ways to upload

  1. Files → Upload Files: click Upload from this Device, select the image and click Upload selected files. See upload files.
  2. From the content editor: open the page under Pages → Manage Pages, click into a text element and use the image button of the text editor. Choose Upload to upload a new image or File Manager to pick an already uploaded one. You can also drag an image from your computer straight into the editor.

If one way works and the other does not, let us know in your message to support.

Check your browser and device

  • The content editor needs a desktop browser; on a phone or tablet use Files → Upload Files.
  • Reload the page with cleared cache or try a private window and a second browser.
  • Pause ad blockers, privacy extensions, virus scanners or firewalls for a moment; they sometimes block the upload request.
  • Make sure your browser is up to date.
