Everything you want to show or offer on your website, from photos to PDF files, is first uploaded to your file storage. From there you insert it into your pages, galleries and download links.
Open the upload page
- Log in at admin.hpage.com and open Files → Upload Files in the sidebar.
- Check the Target Folder shown at the top. With Automatic folder select, every file lands in the main folder of its type (images in Images, PDF files in Downloads and so on). If you opened the upload page from a folder of the file manager, that folder is the target.
Select the files
- Drag the files from your computer into the area Drop some files here or click to select files to upload. You can also click the area or the button Upload from this Device and pick the files in the file dialog of your computer. To pick several files at once, hold the Ctrl key (Cmd on a Mac) or the Shift key while clicking.
- Repeat this until all files are listed. Each file is shown with a preview and its size. The trash icon on a preview removes that file from the list, Clear upload list empties the list.
- If a file with the same name already exists on your website, the preview shows Already exists. Choose Rename to keep both files (the new one gets a new name) or Replace to overwrite the existing file.
Files that are stored in Dropbox can be added with Upload from Dropbox, see upload from Dropbox.
Start the upload
Click Upload selected files. A progress bar runs on every file; a green check mark shows that the file has arrived. You can now use the files on your pages, for example insert images in a text or offer a file for download.
Image compression
The option Compress images on upload (recommended) reduces the file size of photos, which saves storage space and makes your pages load faster. Under Compression Settings you choose the Compression Quality (50 to 100) and the Compression Resolution (original resolution or a maximum size from 1280x720 up to 3840x2160 pixels). The setting is remembered for your account.
Limits
- Each file may be up to 50 MB; images are limited to 7 MB each and
.icofavicons to 100 KB. - Only supported file types can be uploaded. The button Supported Files opens the list, where you can search for an extension.
- All files together may not exceed the storage space of your website (300 MB with Free, 10 GB with Premium).
If an upload fails, image upload does not work lists the usual causes.
