Offer a file for download

Upload a PDF or another file, link it on a page so visitors can download it, and keep an eye on the download counter.

To offer a document, a price list or any other file for download, you upload the file once and then link it from a page. Visitors click the link and receive the file.

Upload the file

  1. Open Files → Upload Files in the sidebar.
  2. Choose Upload from this Device (or drop the file into the upload area) or Upload from Dropbox.
  3. Leave the target folder on Automatic folder select: documents such as PDF, DOC, XLS or ZIP are stored in the Downloads folder.

Which formats you can upload is listed under supported file types. An upload may be up to 50 MB; the storage of your website is 300 MB with Free and 10 GB with Premium.

  1. Open Pages → Manage Pages and click Edit Page Content at the page.
  2. Click into a text element and select the words that should become the download link, for example "Download price list (PDF)".
  3. Click the link button of the text editor. In the Insert Link window open the tab File and choose your file.
  4. Click Insert Link, then Save & Finish.

You can also use a Button element instead of a text link: add it from the group Basic and paste the address of the file as its Link Target. You find that address in the file manager: open Files → File Manager, click the file and copy URL to this file.

Download counter

The details of a file in the file manager show under Downloads how often it has been requested. Reset download counter sets the number back to zero.

If a file does not open for your visitors, check that it still exists in the file manager: when you delete or rename a file, links to it stop working.
