With the Blog addon you report about news on your website: updates, travel reports, recipes, match reports, whatever you like. Articles can be sorted into categories, and visitors can comment on and rate them. The blog is included in Premium; with a Free website you can upgrade to Premium to use it.
Blog settings
Open Addons → Blog → Settings:
- Number of Articles per Page: how many articles are shown before visitors turn the page.
- Ratings: Allow visitors to rate articles.
- Title and Content: a Background Color for the article titles and the article text.
- Comments: Allow visitors to comment on articles. New comments always wait for your approval (see below).
Create categories
Categories group your articles by topic, for example "Travel", "Pets" or "Recipes". Click Addons → Blog → Add Category, enter a Title and save. Under Manage Categories you rename or delete categories later. Categories are optional; a small blog works fine without them.
Write an article
- Click Addons → Blog → Add Article.
- Enter the Subject (the title of the article).
- Preview: an optional short text. If you fill it in, the blog shows only this preview with a link to the complete article, which keeps long blogs tidy. Leave it empty and the whole article is shown right away.
- Content: the article itself. You can format text and insert images, links and videos just like on a page.
- Publishing date: articles appear in the order of this date; a date in the future lets you prepare an article ahead of time.
- Choose a Category if you use categories.
- Tick Do not show article in the blog to keep a draft invisible.
- Save the article.
Under Manage Articles you edit or delete articles and filter them by category (Category Filter).
Moderate comments
When comments are allowed, the article list shows the number of comments per article. New comments are not public until you approve them; the visitor is told so when posting. Click the comments of an article, check the Published State and publish a comment with one click, or Delete Comment.
Show the blog on a page
- Open Pages → Manage Pages and click Edit Page Content at the page that should hold the blog (or add a new page first).
- Click Add Element (Addon), open the group Addons and click Blog.
- Under Select Blog Category choose All Categories for the complete blog, or one category to show only its articles on this page.
- Click Save & Finish.
