ICANN, the organisation that oversees generic domains, requires that the e-mail address of every domain owner is verified. This applies to .com, .net, .org, .info, .name and .biz domains, and the check is done by e-mail. The verification e-mail is genuine and important, even though it is not sent by hPage.
When you receive the e-mail
The registrar sends the verification e-mail to the owner's e-mail address, normally the e-mail address of your hPage account:
- after a new registration of one of the extensions above,
- after a transfer of such a domain to hPage,
- after a change of the owner's e-mail address.
The e-mail does not come from hPage but from the system of our registrar (usually the sender do-not-reply@domain-robot.org with the subject Owner Verification, in German "Inhaber Verifizierung") and contains a link to a page on which you confirm your address. Click the link; nothing else is required. A verified owner contact stays verified, so you will not be asked again for further domains with the same data.
What happens without verification
You have 15 days from the e-mail. If the address is not confirmed in time, the registry suspends the domain: the website and any e-mail addresses at that domain stop working, and the domain list under My Package → Domains shows it as locked or unreachable. The suspension is lifted shortly after you complete the verification; there is no deadline for catching up and no fee.
If you cannot find the e-mail
- Search your inbox and the spam folder for "Owner Verification" or "domain-robot".
- Check which e-mail address is stored in your account under Account (user icon, top right). If it is outdated, change it first; a new verification e-mail then goes to the new address.
- If the e-mail is gone or never arrived, contact our support with the domain name and we have it sent again.
