If you already own a domain at another provider, you can bring it to hPage and use it as the included or an additional domain of your Premium website. The transfer costs nothing extra; you only pay the normal yearly domain price.
What you need
- A Premium website (or an upgrade order in progress).
- The AuthInfo code (also called Auth-Code or transfer code) for the domain. Your current provider issues it, usually in its customer area or on request from its support. We cannot start a transfer without it.
- The domain must not be locked against transfers at your current provider. Many providers call this "transfer lock" or "registrar lock"; switch it off before you start.
Start the transfer in the admin
- Open My Package → Domains (admin.hpage.com/app/booking/domains) and click Order included domain or Order additional domain. During a Premium upgrade you reach the same screen in the step Select Domain.
- Enter your domain without
www., choose its extension and click Check Domain. - You will see This domain is already registered. together with the hint that you can transfer it if you are the owner. Click Transfer this domain to hPage.
- Enter the code in the AuthInfo field and click Select this domain.
- Finish the order. The transfer starts automatically; in the domain list the domain shows Being registered until it has arrived.
If you do not have the AuthInfo yet, you can order the Premium package now with Choose domain later and transfer the domain as soon as you have the code, at no additional cost.
.de, .at, .ch and .eu domains
For these extensions the AuthInfo is all that is needed; there is no confirmation e-mail. .de domains usually arrive within a few hours; .at, .ch and .eu can take a little longer. Some providers require you to terminate the domain with them before they hand out the AuthInfo, so check their rules first.
.com, .net, .org, .info and .biz domains
Generic domains follow the rules of ICANN, which adds a few steps:
- After we start the transfer, the registry sends an e-mail to the owner e-mail address stored for the domain at your current provider (not necessarily your hPage address). It contains a link that you must click to approve the transfer. Make sure that address is current before you order, and check your spam folder.
- A domain can only be transferred if it is older than 60 days and has not changed hands in the last 60 days.
- Do not start a transfer in the last days before the domain expires. Renew it at your current provider first if the end date is near.
- The transfer typically completes within five days. Afterwards an owner verification e-mail may follow; it also has to be confirmed.
Once the domain is active, your website answers under it and you can use it for your own e-mail addresses. If the transfer was rejected or has not finished in the expected time, contact our support with the domain name.
