With the Contact Form addon visitors send you messages right from your website without seeing your e-mail address. Every message is e-mailed to you and kept in the admin, so nothing gets lost. The contact form is available in every package.
Place the form on a page
- Add a page called "Contact", for example, or open an existing page with Pages → Manage Pages → Edit Page Content.
- Click Add Element (Addon), open the group Addons and click Contact Form.
- Click Save & Finish. The form works right away.
Where messages are sent
By default messages go to the e-mail address of your hPage account. To use a different address, open Addons → Contact Form → Settings, tick the box under Other target and enter the E-Mail Address. The sender's address is used as reply address, so you can answer a message directly from your mail program.
All messages are also listed under Addons → Contact Form (Manage Entries), where you can read them with View Message and remove them with Delete Message.
Fields of the form
In the settings you decide which details the form asks for:
- Name, E-Mail, Subject and Message are always required; without them the visitor could not contact you.
- Optional fields such as Website, Street, Zip Code, City, Country, Phone or Date of Birth can be switched on individually.
- Custom fields (Premium): up to ten fields of your own. For each one you enter a Label and choose the Type: Single-line Text Field, Multi-line Text Field, Date Field or Datetime Field. This way you can ask for an order number, a preferred appointment or anything else your website needs.
Protection against spam
Under Security keep the option Protect the form against spam with Google reCAPTCHA (recommended) switched on. Google reCAPTCHA transmits data of your visitors (such as their IP address) to Google; please mention this in your privacy policy. Messages from automated senders or with many links are discarded in addition, and a form can only send a limited number of messages per hour.
