Add music and audio to your website

Upload an MP3 or another audio file and play it on a page with the embed code (Premium), or offer it as a download on a Free website.

You can offer your own music, a podcast episode or any other recording on your website. The audio file is uploaded to your files once; how it is played depends on your package. A player is part of the page it is placed on, so it plays while the visitor is on that page.

Upload the audio file

  1. Open Files → Upload Files in the sidebar.
  2. Choose Upload from this Device or Upload from Dropbox. Audio files such as MP3, M4A, OGG or WAV are stored in the folder Music and Videos when the target folder is on Automatic folder select.
  3. Keep an eye on your storage space: 300 MB with Free, 10 GB with Premium. MP3 files are much smaller than WAV files of the same length.

Play the file on a page (Premium)

Premium websites get a fixed address for every file, and the file manager offers a ready-made player for it:

  1. Open Files → File Manager, open the folder and click the audio file.
  2. Next to HTML Code to embed click the copy button. The code looks like <audio controls src="..."></audio> and shows a player with play button and volume control.
  3. Open Pages → Manage Pages, click Edit Page Content at the page and click Add Element (Addon).
  4. Open the group Special, click Embedded HTML, paste the code and click Save.
  5. Click Save & Finish. Visitors now see the player on the page.

Free websites: offer the file as a download

On a Free website the embed code is not available, because files are delivered through a download link that counts the downloads. You have two options:

  • Link the file like a download: select a text in a text element, click the link button, choose the file in the tab File and insert the link. Depending on the browser, the file opens in a simple player or is saved. A visitor can request the same file up to 10 times within 12 hours.
  • Publish the piece on YouTube or another video provider and embed it by URL on your page.

If you want the player directly on your page, upgrade to Premium.
