The easiest way to show a video on your website is to embed it from a video provider such as YouTube or Vimeo. Premium websites can also play video files that you have uploaded yourself.
Embed a video from YouTube, Vimeo and others
- Open Pages → Manage Pages and click Edit Page Content at the page.
- Click into a text element at the position where the video should appear and click the video button of the text editor.
- In the Insert Video window stay on the tab URL, paste the address of the video under Video URL and click Insert Video. Videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Yahoo, Rutube and Vidyard are recognised by their URL.
- Click Save & Finish.
If your provider is not recognised, switch to the tab Embedded: copy the embed code that the provider offers under "Share" or "Embed", paste it under Embed Code and click Insert Video. This works with any provider that offers an embed code.
Play your own video files (Premium)
Premium websites get a fixed address for every uploaded file, and the file manager offers a ready-made player for video files:
- Upload the video under Files → Upload Files. MP4 and WebM are the formats that browsers play; the file is stored in the folder Music and Videos. A single upload may be up to 50 MB; please keep your storage space in mind.
- Open Files → File Manager, click the video file and copy the HTML Code to embed (
<video controls src="..."></video>). - Open the page with Edit Page Content, click Add Element (Addon), open the group Special and click Embedded HTML.
- Paste the code, click Save and then Save & Finish.
On a Free website uploaded video files can only be linked for download; to show them with a player on the page, publish them on a video platform and embed them by URL, or upgrade to Premium.
The video is not shown
- Check that you copied the complete URL or the complete embed code.
- The video must be public or unlisted at the provider; private videos cannot be embedded.
- Some providers do not allow embedding for individual videos; the owner can change this in the video settings at the provider.
